Wherever there is rotation, there is a need for some form of bearing. The function of a bearing is to minimize the friction between moving machine parts and to carry a load. The majority of these nowadays are a rolling bearing consisting of an inner ring, an outer ring, a number of rolling elements (balls or rollers) and a cage. Most are made of steel, but other materials are also used, such as ceramics, bronze or plastic.
Material handling equipment is equipment that is related to the movement, storage, control and protection of materials, goods and products throughout the process of manufacturing, distribution, consumption and disposal.
Casters of Amarillo, Inc. is proud to offer this type of material handling equipment that will allow customers the ability to move heavy machines in a safe and timely manner. Our non-powered machine movers allow the user to move many different types of equipment in plants, warehouses or out in the field. The types of heavy machine movers that we offer are safe and easy to use.
Ball Transfers solve a variety of material handling and motion control challenges. Whether used in the traditional ‘ball up’ position or as a caster in the ‘ball down’ orientation for rolling applications such as retail store displays, ball transfers offer advantages to traditional casters, such as lower profiles and omni-directional movement, often at a lower cost.

Pneumatic wheels have many benefits in industrial caster applications. The main benefit is the ability to absorb shock loads from impacts and cushion the load.
Heavy duty casters offer increased weight capacity and durability in the 2” tread widths as well as introduces larger wheel sizes up to 10” x 2-1/2” at economical prices. The yoke construction is made from 1/4” thick cold rolled steel. Double ball bearing raceways are deeply formed, polished and heat treated, offering a smooth swivel action and superior durability. The legs are designed and formed for resistance to side thrust failure and are robotically welded to a large 3-1/4” diameter raceway. The swivel raceway & top plate are held together with a 3/4” heat treated nut & bolt kingpin and has a 1/2” axle. Grease fittings mounted in the swivel raceway & wheel axle and in most wheel hubs.

Boltless shelving is ideal for many residential, commercial and industrial uses. In the office it can be used for general storage, file storage, record archives and workstations.
For distribution centers or warehouses its versatility supports inventory control and inventory picking operations. In a retail store it can be used to support merchandising and storefront displays and backroom storage. In manufacturing, it can be used to create packing stations, work centers and various multi level storage systems. At home, think about organizing your garage or storage barn with boltless shelving.
Having the proper office chair casters on your furniture makes working in an office setting much more enjoyable. You should select office chair wheels that are appropriate for your floor. By making this decision based on your flooring, you won’t have to worry about your chair getting bogged down in thick carpeting or sliding all over slick floors. Also, be sure to consider functionality and style when choosing office chair casters.
Wheels have changed dramatically over the years and pneumatic wheels are no exception. Today, we have a true pneumatic wheel (with air) and a flat free wheel (without air). These two quality types have many similar features and come in many sizes. You should also know when to use pneumatic wheels and flat free wheels.
Here are a few things to consider…
Features of Pneumatic Wheels and Flat Free Wheels
Both will deliver a cushioned ride, shock absorption and quiet operation but one trumps the other as virtually maintenance free, it will not go flat. The true pneumatic will have the edge on the ultimate ride as the tube and tire pressure can be adjusted. The flat free offers much the same but in a microcellular polyurethane foam type wheel. Because it is a polyurethane type, it will also have a greater sustainability than the rubber pneumatic wheel in water, most chemical, oil and lubricant environments.
Wesco Industrial Products manufactures a full line of quality material handling equipment. Since 1948, they have provided quality products to the marketplace through their network of distributors in the United States and beyond.
Quiet Casters
Have you ever experienced an environmental noise disturbance? I’m not speaking of honking cars, roaring trains and planes or just people who talk loud. This is a more subtle noise. So, picture yourself in a few scenarios such as:
As society has moved forward, industry and institutional needs have dramatically changed. When it comes to the caster industry, that can readily be seen with the fact that thousands of different types, styles and caster configurations exist today that were not seen even 20 years ago. A quick stroll through a catalog may be a little mind boggling. One will most likely be able to rule out the extra heavy duty drop forged steel casters from their daily shopping list. But where does one start? We, of course, recommend that you call the brain trust (that would be Casters of Amarillo) to make your job easier as well as more economical since we can roll you in the right direction, letting you know what’s on sale and what will work best to meet your needs.
