Pallet jacks are some of the most common tools found in the supply chain.  Finding out after you buy that your new pallet jack is leaking hydraulic fluid and is already out of warranty only causes frustration and despair.  When selecting a pallet jack, look for premium steer wheels and load rollers that will protect your floor and carry the load easily. Also look for a 2 year warranty on the hydraulic unit and most important, look for a trusted source. There are many brands and prices to choose from and selecting a quality pallet jack should provide for many years of service with very little maintenance.

Have you recently purchased casters that you thought were perfect for your application only to find out they did not meet your needs? The load you need to move, the surface you are working on as well as the level of use and abuse are just some of the critical considerations necessary to successfully select the right caster for your application.  Opting for the discount price or simply choosing the wrong material can frequently spell failure on the job. Just because you pay a lot of money won’t ensure success. What is a Quality Caster? A true quality caster is one that is specifically designed to meet your needs. Whenever possible, consider consulting with a professional. Casters of Amarillo Inc will ask the right questions to help you purchase quality every time.

Is your dolly, platform cart, towline or other material handling equipment failing to work properly?  Are you struggling to move those heavy loads?  The answer to your troubles could be quite simple.  9 times out of 10, worn out casters or improperly selected wheels are at fault.  A quick visual inspection can pinpoint the problem.  If the wheels are worn out or rougher in some areas than others, a replacement of  your casters or wheels should correct the problem.

There is no simple formula or rule that can be followed in selecting the proper casters. Many varying and individual factors must be balanced to make the selection that will do the best job for you. The following are several of the more important considerations.

Wherever there is rotation, there is a need for some form of bearing. The function of a bearing is to minimize the friction between moving machine parts and to carry a load. The majority of these nowadays are a rolling bearing consisting of an inner ring, an outer ring, a number of rolling elements (balls or rollers) and a cage. Most are made of steel, but other materials are also used, such as ceramics, bronze or plastic.

Ball Transfers solve a variety of material handling and motion control challenges. Whether used in the traditional ‘ball up’ position or as a caster in the ‘ball down’ orientation for rolling applications such as retail store displays, ball transfers offer advantages to traditional casters, such as lower profiles and omni-directional movement, often at a lower cost.

Have you ever experienced an environmental noise disturbance?  I’m not speaking of honking cars, roaring trains and planes or just people who talk loud. This is a more subtle noise.  So, picture yourself in a few scenarios such as:  Watching a theatrical performance and the scene change is loudly announced by rolling out the next set (clanka, clanka, clanka).  Eating at a nice restaurant and you hear the dessert cart rolling across the travertine tile (clanka, clanka, clanka).  Listening to the Sunday sermon as they move the communion cart through the church (clanka, clanka, clanka).  At work, home, school or play, the wrong wheel on the wrong type of floor is downright annoying.  You may not be aware of those obnoxious noises, but now that you are, they will haunt you!
